The dress has come to the place where I can see it will work out well. All crazy thought-work is finished (mostly).
She needs a lining (candy pink cotton) with interfacing, a zipper, a hem and a thorough pressing. I’m debating making a new “fluffer.” I have a soft, modest crinoline for day wear; I think I want a stiffer one for parties. The black net and lace for it have cluttered my table long enough.
The back. I carefully positioned the pleats to match up with the seams and darts, giving the effect of a huge double box-pleat. I can’t wait to do a proper post on this dress after I finish it, but I don’t want to rush the finishing.
Looks like dimples at the top of the darts, I’ll check if it is the sewing, the pressing, or the fabric.
I just wanted to give you a peek.
I love that fabric, color and the dress!
Your dress looks so impressive! Very vintage and the bow is quite appealing. Now you must find a special place to wear it.
It is looking SO PRETTY. You made the right choice, I think.
Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see the end result. :)
WOW! It looks fantastic! I really love it! And happy belated birthday!!
Thank you ladies. It'll take a little while to finish it.(hehe thanks Debi)
That dress is absolutely amazing. Absolutely.
Wow, that is such a gorgeous dress- the style is lovely and the colour looks so good on you.
This is gorgeous – a great job….I love this pattern and love the "silver lining"!
So pretty! It fits perfectly, and looks fabulous in that fabric!
Have you seen the book "Pattern Magic?" There are several great versions of bows on bodices in that book. It's a pretty amazing book, actually. Check it out if you can! :)
I'll have to look around for it, thanks!
